Menuisier

Carpenter, cabinetmaker, woodcarver, joiner, The French use the term menuiser to describe all these crafts. I feel that this term fits what I do on several levels. Though I do not consider myself French in the true sense of the word. I am Franco Ontarian. But that is another story. I use wood as my primary material to build the furniture that I design. This blog is about my process.

    About Me

    My photo
    daniel durocher
I have been involved in professional woodworking and the building trades for the past 25 years. The last 13 of which have been in a shop setting. When I first started, I trained as an apprentice in custom home building; with this firm we produced R2000 homes for the Ottawa Valley residents. The move to the Toronto area in 2004 found me back in a school environment training under the tutelage of some of Canada’s top studio furniture makers. After school I found myself working for a custom archeterial millwork firm. Which produced Millwork for the Royal York Hotel and other high profile venues in the cities core. I particularly enjoy solving problems in the detail rich pieces that I produce.
